BizTalk service account not granted the requested logon type

Today a ran into a very annoying issue. I had to restart my BizTalk host instances but they didn’t came up anymore. The full error description was “The user has not been granted the requested logon type at this machine” well what kind of logon type? In my case it was Logon Type 5 Service (Indicates a service-type logon. The account provided must have the service privilege enabled)

This issue happened on my local development environment so I was able to fix it with the following steps.

  • Open services.msc
  • Go to the service BizTalk Service BizTalk Group: <HOSTNAME>
  • Right click the service
  • Go to properties
  • Go to the Logon Tab
  • Change it to Local System Account
  • Apply these settings
  • When this is successfully done change it back to the account you where using
  • Start your service and you are back in business
  • For Logon Type info check: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa394189.aspx

Hope it will save you some time.

BizTalk: Exception occurred when persisting state to the database

Hi all,

Two months ago i started with extending our biztalk solution at our customer. Because i am new to BizTalk i ran into a couple of issue like every new BizTalk developer would do. I Received the error message:

“Exception occurred when persisting state to the database”

When i googled this i received a lot of posts where people were talking about the receive shape and the property Activate which needs to be set to true. Well in my case it was, I also set the initializing correlation sets at the receive shape. I only forgot one stupid thing which took me some time :(. Don’t forget to set the Following Correlation sets on the Send shape when pushing the message back to the message box. Well you can see that i am new to BizTalk, a Pro developer would say: Duh.

Regards,

Dennis
